Default Inappropriate Language

So, let me get it straight.

There is a chat filter you can turn on, if you don't like to be exposed to inappropriate language, and you can leave it off if you wish,

however, if you say words like s*** and f*** and get reported you will get temp ban or ban for inappropriate language?

You may get a temp ban for using inapproprate language if it's really bad or if alot of people report you.

Just keep swearing to within your Guild Chat, but if you really feel the need to unload on someone in 'normal' chat, then swear in Latin!

Again, the chat filter does not negate the responsibility of the player and it doesn't give you the right to be a potty mouth.

If its not allowed to swear no matter what, why let people choose if to turn it off or on?

I believe its contradicting each other. Either you allow it, or you filter it out. Why leave the players who don't read the EULA, and the vast majority of players don't, the ability to not use the chat filter, when not using it may get you banned?

Because immature little dickwads will get around the chat filter by using stuff like p.o.o.p instead of poop.

Swear in Guild chat, and you could still get reported.

Over in WoW, I've reported my own guildies before, though it has been a long time since I've done so. Over here in GW, my guild leader has done it as well - report and guild kick. If I recall right she did it to someone who couldn't keep his misogyny to himself.

Guild and alliance chat abuse will get you kicked out of a lot of guilds. Know the rules of your guild (and alliance).

Why do you need to swear? There are better ways to express yourself.

I agree, Ive kicked many people from guilds for not being able to control their words. And Ive reported several who tend to spam obscenities in local chat. I can understand frustration and every once in a while, a nice 4-letter word is needed...but there is such a thing a too much...and theres where /report comes into play.

There are much more constructive ways to express anger than swearing. I agree with others, excessive swearing is agitating to look at.

Golden rule of thumb: If you wouldn't use that language to an employer, then don't use it in game.

I've gotten frustrated at the game on occasion. I took out my frustration by mopping the kitchen. Took it out on the floor. Or taking a walk, take it out on the pavement.

I'm sensing "irony" here. Or is it sarcasm? (I can never tell.)

A year ago, the biggest complaint people had concerned the sad shape of the GW community - or lack thereof. Fortunately, A-Net's taking steps clean it up & making this game one with a better environment for the community as a whole. I for one am glad they're doing it. Everyone needs to take a lesson here- READ THE EULA! When you accept the terms of the EULA, like any contract, you're bound by those terms and have no leg to stand on if you've been banned/suspended for breaching the terms of the EULA.

Another piece of advice I have for all those who use the foul language - work on your vocabulary! This morning, IRL, I overheard an argument between a couple of siblings across the street. Within less than 5 minutes, the girl must have used the "F" word 30 times, and that's no exaggeration!

Why's that then? I have a perfectly diverse vocabulary, including 5 languages apart from my native English, yet I swear in real life. I even had the sheer audacity to partake of foul language when studying for both of my degrees and yet I still gained excellent results in both! So, you can't claim that swearing is the bane of a low intellect or intelligence either!

A bit of swearing here and there never hurt anyone, well not unless you're some sort of prude from the American bible belt that is!

The kind of people that get banned for swearing definitely don't only do it here and there.
And not everyone wants to hear it and you don't have a right to force it on them.
